Karen Kaiser (b. 1966 - )
Karen is a figurative painter based in Victoria, BC, whose work explores themes of whimsical nostalgia in our local urban landscape. Working in oil paint, Karen uses loose perspective, vibrant colour and dramatic light and shadow to create her evocative paintings. She developed her style early on as a self taught artist, exploring the intangible, atmospheric qualities of the urban landscape. She has exhibited at Fortune Gallery, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Gage Gallery, The Sooke Fine Arts Show, and the Sidney Fine Arts Show. Karen's paintings are held in the Hugh Hanson Davidson Collection at the Kamloops Art Gallery, and many private collections in Canada, Germany, Japan and the United States. Karen is currently working on small and large local neighbourhood paintings and landscape paintings of Vancouver Island.
